The Lynchburg Hillcats in 10 innings beat the Winston-Salem Dash, 5-1, at New Winston-Salem Ballpark. Starting pitcher Doug Bratcher was a major factor, holding his opponents in check all game. The winner in relief was Chad Cochrane. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 5-5. Lynchburg now owns a record of 38-43.
Ed Gibson provided a timely hit. The Lynchburg designated hitter delivered a 2-run triple in the top of the tenth inning to put the Hillcats on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in the game, but he made it count.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Gibson said.
