Keys Rally Late to Nip Hillcats
Ed Smith Stadium was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Frederick Keys and Lynchburg Hillcats.

The Frederick Keys beat the Lynchburg Hillcats, 7-6, at Ed Smith Stadium. Frederick third baseman Chuck Ward had an outstanding performance. He was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Frederick pitcher Jimmy Duncan got the win, upping his record to 1-1. Chad Cochrane got the loss.

Frederick used the timely hitting of Edwin Hall to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Keys on top, 7-6. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

In postgame comments to the Frederick Gazette, Hall said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."

Frederick is now 45-39. Lynchburg is 39-45.
