The Myrtle Beach Pelicans locked up a win at Ed Smith Stadium, knocking off the Lynchburg Hillcats, 5-3. On the mound for Myrtle Beach was right-hander Willie Johnson. He played a major role in the triumph. Augusto Balderas was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 2 of 3 save opportunities. The Pelicans sport a record of 29-56.

It could have been a different outcome for Myrtle Beach, had it not been for Quentin Coleman, the 22-year old center fielder . Coleman contributed a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put Myrtle Beach up, 2-0.
