Myrtle Beach turned a good performance from starting pitcher Jerry Jennings into a 6-2 triumph over the Lynchburg Hillcats at Ed Smith Stadium. Augusto Balderas earned the save, his 3rd in 4 tries. The last-place Pelicans own a record of 30-56.

Myrtle Beach used a clutch at-bat from Ken Clark to capture the win. The catcher hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Pelicans ahead, 4-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

Myrtle Beach manager Jose Lobaton commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."
