The Salem Red Sox topped the Winston-Salem Dash, 5-4, with third baseman Colm Evans playing a big role. Evans was 2-3 with a double and 2 walks for the Red Sox in the win. Mike Lane notched his 15th save in 18 chances. The Red Sox raised their record to 38-63.

Salem took a 4-2 lead on Evans's 21st double of the season. The run-scoring double, which he hit off Dan Barnaby in the bottom of the sixth, propelled Salem to the win.

Evans called it "a solid win."
