The Winston-Salem Dash converted a terrific effort from starter Mike Brown into a win over the Salem Red Sox at Salem Memorial Baseball Stadium. The Dash won the game by a final score of 5-1. Brown, now 6-2, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 4, walking 3, and allowing no runs. Picking up the save was 25-year old left-handed pitcher Curt Lee.

The Dash got a big at-bat from shortstop Jarred Pierson. For the game, Pierson was 1-5 with a triple, while adding 3 RBI. In the top of the fourth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a bases-clearing triple. His 1st triple of the season gave Winston-Salem a 3-0 lead.

"I'm happy we won," said Brown. "That's first and foremost. My goal is for the team to win the day I pitch, however it's done."

The first-place Dash, at 60-49, lead the Southern Division by 7 games.
