Potomac Gets 7-5 Win
|
The Potomac Nationals grabbed a win, 7-5, over the Carolina Mudcats at Grainger Stadium. Potomac center fielder Steve McGuffie went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs. Chris González, who went 5.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 4 runs on 7 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 3. His record now stands at 6-6. Edgardo Souza got the save, the 7th for him this season.
It could have been a different outcome for Potomac, had it not been for Bob Cote, the 21-year old left fielder . Cote contributed a 2-run single in the top of the third inning to put Potomac up, 6-3.
"It feels good to get this one," Cote told the Potomac Observer.
Carolina has now lost 4 in a row.
