Salem and Winston-Salem took Mother Nature's best shot and still managed to complete their ballgame.

Salem Red Sox starter Ben Ballard pitched a strong game against the Winston-Salem Dash at New Winston-Salem Ballpark, leading the Red Sox to victory, 3-1. The Red Sox now have a record of 52-63 with the win over Winston-Salem.

Rusty Wilson had a direct impact on the outcome. Wilson contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the first inning to put Salem up, 1-0.

"It feels good to get this one," Wilson told the Salem Observer.
