Potomac and Winston-Salem duked it out and the Nationals came out victorious.

The Winston-Salem Dash got a sterling performance from pitcher Mike Brown, but the Potomac Nationals still prevailed, 4-1. Brown threw 6.1 innings of 5-hit ball. Picking up the save was Sergio Fernández. He's now 20 for 23 in save chances.

The Nationals beat the Dash in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Steve McGuffie produced in the bottom of the seventh. Batting against Jon Ward, McGuffie gave his team the lead, 2-1, when he hit a run-scoring single.

Potomac manager Cesar Martin commended his team for "banging out a nice win."

The defeat makes Winston-Salem 64-55.
