Miranda Slugs Hillcats to 11-4 Win
|
The Lynchburg Hillcats grabbed a win, 11-4, over the Salem Red Sox at Salem Memorial Baseball Stadium. Lynchburg right fielder Héctor Miranda was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 5. Ed Jacobs was the winner. He's now 3-4. The loser was 20-year old right-handed pitcher Guglielmo Martini. Bert Riggs converted his 4th save in 8 tries.
Rob Evans hit a 2-run double off Guglielmo Martini in the top of the fifth, which put the Hillcats in front, 6-4. In addition to the double, Evans had 1 single, while going 2 for 5.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Miranda.
The loss makes Salem 48-79.
