Though he had a stellar game, Ron Crotty could not prevent his team, the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, from losing, 9-4, to the Frederick Keys. Crotty was 3 for 3 with 2 doubles and a walk. He scored 2 runs. The second-place Keys have won 6 in a row.

Joey Bennett had a big 2-run home run for the Keys in the top of the second inning. With Frederick trailing 3-2 and a runner on 2nd, he got a fastball from Willie Johnson and swatted a home run to center. It was his 5th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Keys ahead, 4-3.

"We're obviously playing with a lot of confidence," said Frederick manager Whit Merrifield.
