The Winston-Salem Dash cut down the Potomac Nationals by the score of 8-7, with the largest share of the credit going to second baseman Phil Cooper. Cooper was 3 for 6 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4 for the Dash. Winston-Salem reliever Mike Brown picked up the win, upping his record to 4-6. Leomar Pereda absorbed the loss. With the win, the Dash hiked their record to 83-51.

Winston-Salem got a clutch hit from Al Grant. The first baseman launched a solo home run in the bottom of the 13th inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a kill shot.

"I like winning," Cooper told the Winston-Salem Herald. "I may joke around, but when it comes down to it, winning is the most important thing."
