Winston-Salem Loses, 5-4, to Potomac in 12
The Potomac Nationals beat the Winston-Salem Dash, 5-4, in 12 innings, in part because of second baseman Ken Barnes. He was 5 for 6 with a home run, a triple, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. Potomac reliever Sean Wilson picked up the win, raising his record to 3-2. Bud Walker was tagged with the loss. Don Jensen was credited with the save, his 2nd in 2 tries.

Barnes had a game-changing home run in the top of the 12th. On a 0-1 fastball from Bud Walker, he banged a solo home run to right-center, giving the Nationals a 5-4 lead. It was the 16th home run of the year for Barnes.

"We didn't go down without a fight," said Winston-Salem manager Brent Metheny.

The Nationals improved their record to 60-76 with the win over Winston-Salem.
