Mejía, Mudcats March to 7-1 Victory
The Carolina Mudcats topped the Winston-Salem Dash, 7-1, with center fielder Steve Mejía playing a big role. Mejía went 3 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2 for the Mudcats in the win. The first-place Mudcats, at 88-49, lead the Southern Division by 4 games.

With Carolina leading 2-0 in the top of the fourth, Mejía hit a fastball from Tony Ayala for a 2-run home run. It was his 8th home run of the season and put the Mudcats ahead, 4-0.

"I like the makeup of this team," said Mudcats manager John Cornely.
