5-3 Loss Extends Portland Skid
The Richmond Flying Squirrels knocked off the Portland Sea Dogs, 5-3, in Eastern League action at Hadlock Field. Richmond pitcher and Mt. Vernon, Virginia, native Dave García had an outstanding performance. García yielded 3 runs over 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 2, and struck out 3. His record improves to 1-2. Picking up his 3rd save was 26-year old right-handed pitcher Bob Gordon.

It could have been a different outcome for Richmond, had it not been for Shigochiyo Minami, the 24-year old third baseman . Minami contributed a 2-run single in the top of the sixth inning to put Richmond up, 4-2.

"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Minami.

The loss drops the Sea Dogs to 7-8.
