Danville Firebirds starter Tommy Pierce was in a rhythm all game. He led his team to a win over the Princeton Rays, 4-0. Pierce picked up the win for Danville, going 5.1 innings. He gave up no runs on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 1-0. Chris Hawkins earned the save for Danville, his 1st of the year.
The Firebirds got a big at-bat from first baseman Edwin Huff. For the game, Huff went 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the third, with the bases loaded, he stroked a grand slam home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Danville a 4-0 lead.
