Lugnuts Get 7-6 Win Versus West Michigan
The West Michigan Whitecaps and Lansing Lugnuts riveted fans at Cooley Law School Stadium.

Lansing starter Steven Prigent pitched effectively against the West Michigan Whitecaps at Cooley Law School Stadium. The right-hander led his team to a win, 7-6. Lansing reliever Buddy Paige picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. Steve Hood was tagged with the loss. Jim Barber closed out the game, earning his 1st save.

Steve Collins went 1-3 with a double and 2 walks for Lansing. The 25-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 6-6 tie with a run-scoring walk off Steve Hood. It was his 2nd walk of the season.

"It wasn't a pretty victory," said Collins, "but we got it done."

Lansing goes to 1-1.
