Contreras 3-for-5, Cubs Move to 3-1
|
Behind a solid performance from shortstop António Contreras, the South Bend Cubs defeated the Fort Wayne TinCaps, 9-2. Contreras was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4 for the Cubs. The winner was Ed Green, who threw 116 pitches over 7 innings. The right-hander was charged with 2 runs on 6 hits. Fort Wayne now has a record of 1-3.
