Loons Pick Up 2-1 Win Against West Michigan
Starting pitcher Tommy Murchie gave the Great Lakes Loons a rock-solid performance, helping his team defeat the West Michigan Whitecaps, 2-1, at Dow Diamond. Jarrod Lane earned the save, his 3rd, for the Loons. West Michigan now is 4-1.

The Loons got a big at-bat from shortstop Jim Christensen. For the game, Christensen went 3-4 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the third, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run double. His 5th double of the season gave Great Lakes a 2-1 lead.

"If we keep winning the close games," Christensen said, "we'll be in good shape at the end."
