Big Day by Villarreal Sparks 7-4 Quad Cities Win
The Quad Cities River Bandits topped the Burlington Bees, 7-4, at Modern Woodmen Park. Quad Cities center fielder Luis Villarreal was a spark plug for the offense. He went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 doubles. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. Juan Saucedo, the winner, is now 1-1. He struck out 5 and walked 2 over 5 innings, while allowing 3 runs on 5 hits. Bob Barraclough notched his 3rd save of the season.

Miguel Angel Randín had a big run-scoring double for the River Bandits in the bottom of the third inning. With Quad Cities leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a fastball from 20-year old right-handed pitcher Rob Gordon and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 2nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the River Bandits ahead, 3-1.

"I'm proud of the way we took care of business and got the 'W' today," Villarreal told the Quad Cities Today. "Whatever it takes."

Burlington is 4-4 after the loss.
