Chiefs Score Late to Upend Timber Rattlers, 14-4
The Peoria Chiefs topped the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, 14-4, with youngster Dave Barton playing a key role. Barton was 3-6 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4 for the Chiefs in the win. António Morales earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 4.2 innings. He upped his record to 2-0. Wisconsin, with the loss, is still a robust 6-2.

Peoria used a timely hit from Phil Bass to get the win. The first baseman stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Chiefs ahead, 6-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Bass told the Peoria Citizen.
