The Clinton LumberKings beat the Peoria Chiefs, 8-4, at Dozer Park. Clinton shortstop Tony Walker collected 2 singles and 2 doubles with 1 run batted in. Robinson Martínez earned the win to go to 1-1. He allowed 3 runs on 8 hits, with 4 walks and 2 strikeouts in 7 innings of work. Picking up the save was 23-year old left-handed pitcher Ben Barrera.

Clinton catcher Kevin Sheets contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the first. With two down, he hit a curveball to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 1st hit of the season and put the LumberKings ahead, 1-0.

"I like the vibe in the clubhouse after a win," said Walker. "It sure beats the alternative."

The Chiefs drop to 5-5 and continue their mediocre start to the 2026 season.
