Fans were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Lake County Captains take on the Fort Wayne TinCaps.

The 7-3 Lake County win over Fort Wayne was due in large part to Víctor Díaz. The Captains third baseman was 3 for 4 with a triple and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Lake County starter Jesús Gómez was credited with the win after throwing 80 pitches over 5.2 innings. His record now stands at 2-0. Chris Hurt earned the save for Lake County, his 1st of the year.

Díaz had an important at-bat with the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth, when he hit a sacrifice fly. The Captains went on to win.

"If you don't take any pitches off, you've got a chance to impact the game, and that's what we did," said Lake County skipper Chris Dwyer.

The Captains, now 9-3, have played some good baseball in the early going.
