The West Michigan Whitecaps weathered a fine game by Fort Wayne pitcher Albert Santístevan to upend the TinCaps, 4-3, at Parkview Field. Santístevan came in in relief and pitched to 20 batters. The win went to Aurelio González in relief, making him now 2-0. Ben Dundee took the loss for Fort Wayne. The victory makes West Michigan 12-5.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Joe Pettifer? The 22-year old right fielder Pettifer stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put West Michigan up, 4-3. For the game, he was 3 for 5, including 1 double and 2 singles.
"The guys seem happy with the win. That's good, I guess," said Pettifer.
