The Burlington Bees got a superb performance from pitcher Derek Hoskins. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Peoria. The Chiefs won the game, 2-1. Hoskins threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball. The save was Joe Evans's, his 4th. Peoria is flying high at 12-5.
The Chiefs got a big at-bat from catcher Doug Thomas. For the game, Thomas was 1 for 3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Peoria a 2-0 lead.
"This was a game where every at-bat, every pitch counted," said Thomas.
