The West Michigan Whitecaps gave their fans something to talk about with a thrilling, walk-off win.

The West Michigan Whitecaps clipped the Fort Wayne TinCaps, 5-4, in 13 innings at Fifth Third Ballpark. The standout performance belonged to West Michigan pitcher and Guatire, Venezuela, native Juan López. West Michigan reliever Steve Hood picked up the win, while José Vásquez took the loss for Fort Wayne.

West Michigan got a clutch hit from Rob Gachinsky. The right fielder launched a solo home run in the bottom of the 13th inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a kill shot.

In postgame comments to the West Michigan Citizen, López said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."

The Whitecaps raised their record to 13-7.
