Enthusiastic fans came out to support the home team at Veterans Memorial Stadium.

Quad Cities center fielder Eric Newton had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 6-4, to Cedar Rapids at Veterans Memorial Stadium. Newton was 2 for 3 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Cedar Rapids reliever Tony Flores picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Myron Nichols was saddled with the loss. Garry Gilmer closed out the game, earning his 3rd save.

Greg Harris had a big 2-run home run for the Kernels in the bottom of the third inning. With Cedar Rapids leading 2-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a fastball from Myron Nichols and swatted a home run to left. It was his 4th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Kernels ahead, 4-0.

"I just try to be a dog, have good swings, good at-bats," said Harris.

The River Bandits, now 8-15, continue their poor start.
