Burlington Bees starter José Marte pitched a strong game against the Clinton LumberKings at Community Field, leading the Bees to victory, 5-4. Mike Taylor earned the save for Burlington, his 7th of the year. Clinton, with the loss, is 12-12.

Had Dave Conner not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Conner hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Bees.

"Winning is the only thing that really matters," Conner told the Burlington Observer. "If you can win without even breaking a sweat, more power to you."
