LumberKings Stumble, Losing to Whitecaps, 6-1
|
Whitecaps left fielder Chris Jacobs put his stamp on his team's 6-1 win over the Clinton LumberKings. Jacobs was 1 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 for West Michigan in the contest. Early on, the Whitecaps, at 20-7, have played an impressive brand of baseball.
West Michigan used a clutch at-bat from Ted Garland to capture the win. The first baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Whitecaps ahead, 3-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Every time you put a 'W' on the board is always good," said Jacobs.
