Lambert goes 3-for-4 to Pull Cubs to .500
|
The timely hitting of Bob Lambert helped the South Bend Cubs down the Kane County Cougars, 8-4. Lambert was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 4 for the Cubs. Ed Green got the win, improving to 5-3. He worked 5 innings, giving up 1 run on 5 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 3. The save was Artie Maddox's, his 6th.
Early in the game, Lambert had a 3-run home run for South Bend. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Cubs on top, 3-0.
"Whenever you can come through for your ball club, it's a great thing," said Lambert.
The win puts South Bend at 14-14.
