Lugnuts Earn 4-3 Win Against LumberKings
The Lansing Lugnuts picked up a win at Alliant Energy Field, taking down the Clinton LumberKings, 4-3, in 10 innings. On the mound for Lansing was right-hander Ignacio Benítez. He played a central role in the triumph. Lansing pitcher Bobby Thomas earned the win, hiking his record to 1-0. Iván Diéguez suffered the loss. Eugene Howe recorded his 5th save for Lansing.

Lansing needed the clutch hitting of Bobby Shirley to seal the deal. The designated hitter swatted a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Lugnuts on top, 4-3. For the game, Shirley had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"Win or lose, we always try to grind it out and stay even-keeled," Shirley said in reaction to the win.

The LumberKings fall to 12-16 and continue their uninspiring start to the 2026 season.
