River Bandits Hand Dayton 5-0 Loss
|
Pitcher Myron Nichols was sensational for the Quad Cities River Bandits in his team's 5-0 triumph over the Dayton Dragons. Nichols earned the win. Nichols, now 1-3, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 5, walking 3, and allowing no runs. The loss drops Dayton to 14-14.
The Dragons had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the River Bandits going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 24-year old center fielder Eric Newton came to the plate. Newton hit a run-scoring triple on a 1-0 fastball from Dayton hurler R.J. White. It was Newton's 1st triple of the year.
Newton called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
