Whitecaps Continue Hot Start to Season With Win
West Michigan turned a fine outing from starter Jody Simmons into a victory over the Quad Cities River Bandits at Modern Woodmen Park. The final score was 7-0. The winning pitcher was Simmons, now 3-2. He tossed 5.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 2. Joe Emerson got credit for the save for West Michigan. It was his 4th of the year.

It could have been a different outcome for West Michigan, had it not been for José Ramírez, the 21-year old shortstop . Ramírez contributed a solo home run in the top of the third inning to put West Michigan up, 2-0.

"Guys seem to be putting together some really nice at-bats right now," said Whitecaps manager Bo Porter.

West Michigan has now won 7 straight.
