The South Bend Cubs overcame a good performance by Beloit first baseman Brad Harris to knock off Beloit, 8-5, at Harry C. Pohlman Field. Harris went 2 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Picking up the win was Ed Green. He went 6 innings, allowing 3 runs on 9 hits. The right--hander struck out 7 and walked 4. Artie Maddox notched his 8th save of the season.

South Bend left fielder Rinaldo Saro helped the Cubs go up, 4-2, in the top of the sixth inning. With the game tied, Saro hit a 2-run single off Beloit pitcher Dana Everhart.

"I still think this team has room for improvement," Saro told the South Bend Gazette.

The Cubs, now 17-14, have won 4 in a row.
