Lugnuts Pull Out Late Win, 9-8
Lugnuts shortstop Jody Johns put his stamp on his team's 9-8 win over the South Bend Cubs. Johns was 4 for 4 with a triple, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2 for Lansing in the contest. Reliever P.J. Bell picked up the win. His record improves to 1-1. Randy Nelson took the loss. Lansing is now 18-20, South Bend 18-20.

The Lugnuts were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth inning, when 29-year old catcher Tae-gyoon Hong landed a big blow. He turned a full count cutter from Randy Nelson into a 2-run single. The walk-off single sent the Cooley Law School Stadium denizens into a frenzy and sent the Lugnuts home with a thrilling 9-8 win.

"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Hong.
