Fans were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Dayton Dragons take on the West Michigan Whitecaps.

The West Michigan Whitecaps had to overcome a fine effort from Dayton pitcher Dominic Blake to win, 2-0, at Fifth Third Field. Blake went 6 innings and allowed no runs. The win lifted the West Michigan record to 29-10.

Sergio Jara had a direct impact on the outcome. Jara contributed a run-scoring hit-by-pitch in the top of the eighth inning to put West Michigan up, 2-0.

Jara called the win "a team effort."
