River Bandits Beaten by Kernels, 5-3

Ernie Williams had a good game, but he could not keep the Quad Cities River Bandits from falling, 5-3, to the Cedar Rapids Kernels at Modern Woodmen Park. The Quad Cities designated hitter was 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once in the loss. Eric Mayfield earned the save, his 1st, for the Kernels. The Kernels, now 24-15, know that wins in May count the same as wins in September.
Charlie Carlson drove in one run for Cedar Rapids. The 22-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the top of the seventh. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Steffen O'Donnell. It was his 5th RBI of the season.
Carlson attributed the win to "everyone pulling their weight."
