LumberKings Victors, 4-1, at Quad Cities

Spirited fans greeted the Quad Cities River Bandits for their clash with the Clinton LumberKings.
The Clinton LumberKings topped the Quad Cities River Bandits, 4-1, in Midwest League action at Modern Woodmen Park. The standout performance belonged to Clinton pitcher and Lakewood, Colorado, native Stan Valentine. In 8 innings, Valentine surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 3. He allowed 1 run.
Luis Carranza provided a timely hit. The Clinton center fielder delivered a run-scoring triple in the top of the sixth inning to put the LumberKings on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in the game, but he made it count.
"I was able to change speeds effectively tonight," said Valentine.
By defeating Quad Cities, the first-place LumberKings improved to 23-17.
