Hamilton Excels, But Chiefs Win
|
The Peoria Chiefs took on the Cedar Rapids Kernels at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
Though he had a terrific game, Bobby Hamilton could not prevent his team, the Cedar Rapids Kernels, from absorbing a loss. Peoria won the game, 9-6. Hamilton went 4 for 5 with a home run and 2 doubles, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3. The winner in relief was António Morales. The left-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3 innings. He now owns a record of 3-3.
Gil Guistiniani helped out the Peoria cause in the top of the eighth inning with a run-scoring walk. For the game, the right fielder drew 2 walks in 5 plate appearances.
Chiefs manager Phil Nevin wasn't all too pleased, despite the win, telling reporters that the performance highlighted some clear areas for improvement moving forward. He refused to be more specific, however. "I'm not gonna publicize our weaknesses," he said. "That stuff stays in the clubhouse."
The win has Peoria at 17-27.
