The first-place West Michigan Whitecaps took on the Dayton Dragons in front of a spirited crowd.

West Michigan turned a fine outing from starter Joe Howard into a victory over the Dayton Dragons at Fifth Third Ballpark. The final score was 7-0. Robby Mitchell closed the game out for West Michigan, earning his 1st save.

The fans who filled the stands at Fifth Third Ballpark to watch the Midwest League action seemed to enjoy the game.

"That was awesome. Really, really impressive, what Joe did," said West Michigan manager Bo Porter.

The win for the Whitecaps lifted their record to 34-12.
