The Lansing Lugnuts and South Bend Cubs riveted fans at Stanley Coveleski Regional Stadium.

The South Bend Cubs licked the Lansing Lugnuts, 8-3. Jorge Cortéz deserved a big chunk of the credit. The designated hitter went 3 for 3 with a double, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Cubs. South Bend now sits at 24-23, while Lansing falls to 20-27.

Center Fielder Robinson Paz made an impact for South Bend, when he swatted a run-scoring triple off Kevin Carlton in the bottom of the second. For the contest, Paz went 3 for 4 with a triple and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.

"That was not our best effort," said Lansing skipper Edgar Varela.
