Joe Holmes, who is tied for 7th in the MID in wins with 5, was locked in. The right-hander led the Quad Cities River Bandits to a 5-1 win against the Burlington Bees at Modern Woodmen Park. Holmes, the winner, moves to 5-3. He threw 6.1 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 2 walks. The save went to Luis Hernández, number 1 for him.

The two teams provided some entertaining baseball for the Modern Woodmen Park crowd. Regardless of the outcome, a good time was had by all.

"It was a good night for them and a bad night for us," said Burlington manager Danny Valencia.

The River Bandits improved their record to 24-24 by beating Burlington.
