Dayton Stymied by Lansing, 2-1
|
Lansing pitcher Ken Jenkins did his part in helping his team beat the Dayton Dragons, 2-1. The left-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Jenkins picked up the win for Lansing, going 7 innings. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 6-2. Jim Barber was credited with the save for Lansing, his 8th of the season.
The Lugnuts got a big at-bat from center fielder Toby Clendennon. For the game, Clendennon was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2. In the bottom of the third, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 6th home run of the season gave Lansing a 2-1 lead.
"Not everyone likes pitching duels," said Jenkins. "But I do."
The Lansing winning streak has reached 3 games.
