Kernels Stay Hot with Extra-Inning Win
Kane County got a terrific performance from pitcher Gil Peterson, but it wasn't enough to beat the Cedar Rapids Kernels. Cedar Rapids won the Philip B. Elfstrom Stadium contest, 8-6. Peterson threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Cedar Rapids pitcher Josh Peterson got the win. He's now 5-2. Edgardo Herrera was tagged with the loss. The Kernels, now 34-21, have won 5 in a row.

Cedar Rapids needed the clutch hitting of Manny Ramírez to seal the deal. The designated hitter swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the 11th inning to put the Kernels on top, 8-6. For the game, Ramírez had 1 home run and 1 single in 6 at-bats.

"Getting the win feels nice," said Ramírez. "More importantly, I had a good game."
