Cubs Upend Whitecaps, 4-1

The West Michigan Whitecaps got a superb performance from pitcher Jimmy Fuller, but the South Bend Cubs still won the game, 4-1. Fuller threw 5.1 innings of shutout ball. South Bend is now 28-38, while West Michigan is 48-18.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Alex Davis? The 26-year old right fielder Davis stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put South Bend up, 4-1. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
Davis told a South Bend Gazette reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
