The Cougars grabbed a win, 5-4, at Veterans Memorial Stadium, overcoming a fine effort from Cedar Rapids pitcher Jesús Vargas. Vargas went 6 innings and allowed 1 run. Kane County occupies 7th place in the Western Division at 30-38.

Dan Albertson drove in one run for Kane County. The 22-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the ninth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Josh Peterson. It was his 27th RBI of the season.

"We're all about heart and hustle on this team. That's what wins ballgames," Albertson told the Kane County Daily.
