Peoria Wins Pitchers' Duel, 2-0
|
Runs were at a premium in the Peoria-Burlington matchup.
Starting pitcher Tony Houston had a solid game. He was a big reason the Peoria Chiefs throttled the Burlington Bees, 2-0. Danny Álvarez got credit for the save for Peoria. It was his 13th of the year.
With one out in the top of the eighth, Chuck Edwards had a game-changing hit. The Chiefs designated hitter slammed a run-scoring single off Cipriano Sosa, making the score 2-0, Peoria.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Peoria manager Phil Nevin. "Our pregame was pretty good."
Peoria goes to 41-29, Burlington to 38-32.
