Lugnuts Roll to 9-3 Win Over Loons
The performance of José Viera proved critical in helping Lansing beat Great Lakes, 9-3. The Lugnuts shortstop was 3-4 with a triple, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Ignacio Benítez picked up the win, lifting his record to 10-3 on the season. He struck out 6 and walked 2 in 6 innings, while yielding 1 run. Kade Franklin, credited with the save, is now 1 for 1 in save opportunities.

Bob Benton had a big run-scoring double for the Lugnuts in the bottom of the first inning. With Lansing leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a cutter from Bob Marín and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 13th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Lugnuts ahead, 2-0.

"I just tried to make good contact," said Benton.

With the win, Lansing pushed its record to 39-32.
