Slumping Cubs Lose 9th Straight
Rusty Henry was a vital contributor to the 7-5 West Michigan victory over South Bend. The Whitecaps right fielder went 2 for 3 with a home run, while scoring 2 times. The slumping Cubs have lost 9 straight.

West Michigan used a timely hit from Ted Garland to get the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Whitecaps ahead, 6-5. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said Garland.
