The Kane County Cougars stopped the Quad Cities River Bandits, 6-5, at Philip B. Elfstrom Stadium. The Cougars got a big game from Jermaine Ruíz, who went 2-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The win was credited to 24-year old right-handed pitcher José Alaniz in relief. His record improves to 1-1. José Salinas took the loss. Mike Wright locked down his 3rd save.

Ruíz broke a deadlock in the bottom of the eighth inning, when he hit a sacrifice fly, putting Kane County up, 6-5.

"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Ruíz told the Kane County Daily News.

The win puts Kane County at 28-50.
